About our Multi Agency Safeguarding Arrangements
Our arrangements are designed to encourage the best safeguarding practice across the Royal Borough by providing clear, consistent and high quality advice and information to protect both children and adults from harm.
We treat cases of suspected abuse very seriously and all the organisations in the partnership work closely together, for example, by using the same policies and procedures to provide a more holistic response to safeguarding issues within families.
The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead’s safeguarding partnership is led by representatives from the local authority, Police and Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) working with other key agencies involved with children, young people, families and adults with care and support needs.
On 25th June 2019, our new safeguarding arrangements for children were published in response to Working Together 2018 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/working-together-to-safeguard-children--2. At the same time we remodelled our Safeguarding Adults Board as Bracknell withdrew from the joint Safeguarding Adult Board arrangements we had previously had in place.
At the hub of our arrangement are two multi agency Safeguarding Executive Steering Groups which oversee the delivery of local safeguarding priorities and are accountable for the effectiveness of the safeguarding arrangements.
Arrangements for safeguarding children
The new safeguarding children arrangements build on the achievements of the Windsor & Maidenhead Local Safeguarding Children Board, holding each organisation to account and ensuring safeguarding remains a priority. Safeguarding partners are required to produce an annual report on the effectiveness of the local multi agency safeguarding arrangements in keeping children and young people safe from abuse and neglect in the local area.
The 2019/20 annual report report is now available and previous annual reports produced by the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) are available below.

Arrangements for safeguarding adults
In accordance with the Care Act 2014, local authorities are required to set up a Safeguarding Adults Board in order to lead and co-ordinate the arrangements in the local area. We decided that our safeguarding adults and children arrangements will work in similar ways, delivering specific priorities through targeted work streams; developing the influence and effectiveness of Lay Members and using externally commissioned, independent scrutiny to hold the wider adult safeguarding system to account.

RBWM Full Safeguarding Arrangement
Previously, Bracknell Forest and Windsor & Maidenhead had a joint Safeguarding Adults Board (SAB), we now have separate arrangements while continuing to work with partners across East and Pan Berkshire.
The local safeguarding board arrangements are required to produce an annual report to show how effectively adult abuse and neglect is addressed in the local area.
The 2019/20 annual report is now available and you can view previous annual reports below.
