Annual Safeguarding Conference 2022
Following on from our previous conference which was held virtually in October last year (Full detail of the 2021 Conference can be found here), the RBWM Safeguarding Partnership was proud to announce its third annual conference which, due to the unprecedented circumstances presented by the pandemic, was held virtually again on Microsoft teams on Monday 10th October 2022. This methodology of virtual hosting allowed participants to join from their homes/workplaces and still engage effectively while delivering an event that has already received fantastic feedback from participants.
The previous conferences, have been designed to help individuals understand the new arrangements and to identify local priorities, providing an opportunity for senior leaders to refresh their commitment to safeguarding and grow their networks. The partnership has since delivered outcomes from the priorities identified and the conference held this year, allowed us to actively engage with our partners, raise awareness about safeguarding and inspire people to take action within their own organisations.
The conference was well attended with a total of 159 attendees from a wide range of our partner agencies taking part.
Below you will be able to find footage of the conference recording, which began with an introduction from Kevin McDaniel, Executive Director of People Services. Following from this, we were joined by Dez Holmes, Director for Research in Practice who helped deliver a presentation around Transitional Safeguarding – “There are moral and economic drivers for a reimagined safeguarding system which is contextual, transitional and relational".
After Dez’ presentation, we then hosted breakout workshops which included:
Following the breakout workshops, the safeguarding partnership were joined by Dr Sheila Fish, Research Analyst, Children’s Services Team, SCIE who provided an insight and overview of SARs and learning reviews. The conference was successfully concluded by Kevin McDaniel, Executive Director for People Services.
A massive thank you to everyone who attended, and a special thank you to our presenters - we couldn't have done it without you!
